Post-Op Care – Hair, Beard & Eyebrow Transplant

Overview

This guide explains medication usage and aftercare following hair, beard, and eyebrow transplantation. Please follow these instructions carefully to support proper healing and optimal graft survival.

Important note about medications

The medication names provided below may vary depending on pharmacy availability. In such cases, you will always receive an equivalent medication with the same active ingredient and medical purpose. Only the brand name may differ.

Medications after transplantation

  • Antibiotic (e.g. Ciprofloxacin type)
    Take for 7 days. One tablet in the morning and one in the evening, after food.
  • Anti-edema medication (swelling reducer)
    Take for 3 days. One tablet in the morning and one in the evening, after food.
  • Painkiller (NSAID type)
    Use the first night after transplantation, then only if pain occurs. One tablet in the morning and one in the evening, after food.
  • Antihistamine (anti-itch medication)
    Start 3–4 days after the procedure and only if itching occurs in the transplant area. May cause drowsiness. One tablet in the morning and one in the evening, after food.
  • Wound-healing oil (St. John’s Wort oil type)
    • Start on day 2 after transplantation.
    • Apply 3 times daily to the donor area.
    • From day 7, also apply to the transplant area 30 minutes before washing.
    • If grafts were taken from the beard area, apply oil there starting 1 day after surgery once bandages are removed.

Aftercare following hair transplantation

  • Do not shower on the first day.
  • You may shower after your first washing instruction appointment.
  • Use the provided neck pillow for 10 days.
  • Do not scratch, rub, or massage the transplant area for 10 days.
  • Numbness in the transplant area is normal for up to 10 days. Protect the area from trauma.
  • Hair washing starts 1 day after the procedure and must be done morning and evening for 10 days as instructed.
  • After washing, the transplant area must not remain wet.
  • From day 10, once scabs have fallen off, stop using foam.
  • After day 10, wash once daily or every two days using shampoo only.
  • Baby shampoo may be used if the special shampoo runs out.
  • Bed rest is recommended for 2 days to prevent facial swelling.
  • Avoid activities that raise blood pressure for 10 days (sports, sexual activity, weight lifting).
  • Light walking may start after 2 weeks.
  • Normal social activities may resume after 1 month.
  • Hair may be cut with scissors after 1 month.
  • Hair clippers or shaving machines may be used after 6 months.
  • Hair dye, styling products, and hair dryers are forbidden for 3 months.

Aftercare following beard and eyebrow transplantation

  • Medication usage is the same as for hair transplantation.
  • Follow the same dosage and timing instructions.
  • Wash only with foam.
  • Apply foam by gently pressing with the fingertips.
  • Rinse the area after 15 minutes.
  • Dry the transplant area after each wash as instructed.
  • Scabs will begin to fall off from day 7.
  • After beard transplantation, avoid taking large bites and be careful with mouth opening and stretching movements.
  • After eyebrow transplantation, ice compresses may be applied under the eyes if swelling or bruising occurs, without touching the transplant area.
