Post-Op Care – Endoscopic Browlift

Reading time: 1 min read

Overview

This guide explains how to care for yourself after endoscopic browlift surgery to support safe healing, reduce complications, and achieve the best possible result. Please follow these instructions carefully and contact My Imperial Care if you notice anything unusual.

Dressing

  • You will be placed in a head dressing immediately after surgery.
  • Do not remove the dressing and keep it dry.
  • The dressing will be removed the day after surgery at your postoperative appointment.
  • Drainage of blood and fluid from the incisions is normal.
  • You may have one small drainage tube in the forehead area, which is usually removed at the first postoperative appointment.

Sutures and staples

  • You will have staples on the top of your head and in the temporal area.
  • Be gentle when caring for these areas.
  • The staples are usually removed 10–14 days after surgery during your follow-up appointment.

Showering and hair care

  • You may shower and wash your hair the day after the bandages are removed.
  • Use shampoo carefully, as it may cause burning near the incisions.
  • A hair dryer may be used on a cool, low setting only.
  • Avoid hair styling products until your incisions have healed.

Bleeding and swelling

  • Oozing of blood, swelling, and bruising at the incision sites are normal.
  • Swelling may take 6–8 weeks to fully resolve.
  • Bruising may spread to the forehead, cheeks, and neck and usually resolves within 2 weeks.
  • Sleep and rest with your head elevated to help reduce swelling.

Ice packs

  • Small bags of frozen peas or soft ice packs may be used to reduce swelling and bruising.
  • If swelling occurs around the eyes, place ice packs over the eyes for 20–30 minutes, followed by at least 30 minutes without ice.
  • Repeat every 2–3 hours for the first 12–24 hours.
  • Do not place ice packs directly on the skin, as this may cause skin healing problems.

Infection warning signs

  • Foul-smelling drainage
  • Yellow or green discharge from the incision
  • Fever above 38.3°C (101°F) with chills
  • Redness and warmth around the incision

Smoking warning

Smoking significantly increases the risk of skin loss and delayed wound healing.

Do not smoke while your body is healing.

Pain and medication

Pain is expected after surgery. Follow all instructions provided with your pain medication.

Do not drive until you are no longer taking strong pain medication.

Activity

  • Avoid bending at the waist.
  • Do not lift anything heavier than 10 pounds for the first 2–3 days.
  • As you resume normal activity, avoid any action that causes pain.
  • Do not resume weight lifting or high-impact activities for 4 weeks.
  • You may begin light exercise after 14 days, after discussing your routine with our team.

Hematomas

  • Hematomas are collections of blood and fluid under the skin or muscle.
  • They are rare but must be reported immediately.
  • Signs include significant swelling that appears to be increasing.
  • If this occurs, contact us immediately.
